LOS ANGELES — Antibiotics were made available for porn actors after an outbreak of syphilis prompted a nationwide moratorium on adult film production. The Los Angeles-based Free Speech Coalition plans to test all performers for the disease and said on its website that antibiotics would be available at locations in Van Nuys, Las Vegas and Fort Lauderdale. The industry group called for the halt in production Saturday after reporting one performer had tested positive for syphilis. The Los Angeles County Public Health Department is investigating at least five cases of syphilis related to the adult film industry. Nine months after he was ousted as president of Penn State University, Graham Spanier has gone on record citing bouts of child abuse he experienced growing up. In an exclusive interview with ABC News’ Josh Elliott scheduled to air Wednesday night, Spanier chronicled the extensive abuse he suffered at his father’s hands, which required four surgeries to correct breathing problems and injuries to his head. “It resulted in, of course, some emotional scarring, but also some substantial physical damage,” Spanier told Elliott.  READ MORE HERE

Christopher Vaughn, a husband and father of three, shot his entire family to death in order to free himself of responsibility. Vaughn planned to escape to Canada, where he could live alone. CAMDEN, N.J. — Child welfare authorities in New Jersey say they had been regularly monitoring and providing counseling to a woman who police say decapitated her 2-year-old son. A statement from the Department of Children and Families says Chevonne Thomas received “extensive” support from the agency after recently regaining custody of the boy. A mother is facing life in jail after being convicted of raping her baby daughter from birth until she was 18-months-old. Melissa Bailey was convicted by a jury who took just two hours to reach their verdict. The 29-year-old was convicted on all six charges of abusing her daughter and allowing her 62-year-old boyfriend to join in the assaults. ST. PAUL, Minn. — A Minnesota state lawmaker who authorities say admitted having a liaison with a 17-year-old boy at a rest stop faced calls from party leaders Monday to give up his re-election bid. Rep. Kerry Gauthier, 56, hasn’t been charged in the July incident, and authorities said he wouldn’t be because the boy was older than 16, the legal age of consent, and no money was exchanged. BILLINGS – A man who was wanted in Ohio for raping a 13-year-old girl and fathering a child with her was arrested in Billings this week. David Martin, 38, was tracked to Billings where he was working at Rent-A-Wreck. He was apprehended there without incident on Wednesday, Aug. 15, according to the U.S. Marshal’s Office. Martin is charged with two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor-rape in Ohio State District Court in Morrow County. A call to action at ThePetitionSite.com created by Christian Miller targets the Iranian government and requests that it not legalize the forced marriage of girls under the age of 10. The petition has garnered the signatures of many thousands of people worldwide, a number of whom have expressed outrage at the Islamic Republic’s move, which some consider to reflect an attitude towards female children as property and household slaves. Entitled “Iran: Don’t Legalize Marriage for Girls Under 10!” the petition reads:

“The Iranian Parliament recently issued a statement that they regard the law prohibiting marriage for girls under 10 as un-Islamic and illegal. Police have arrested a Compton, Ca. church pastor, Anthony Lavon Smith, 47, of Rialto, Ca., suspected of molesting two Rialto girls for several years. One of the girls was 11-years-old when the alleged sexual abuse first started.
