Congo: Bosco Ntaganda Recruiting Children by Force

Gen. Bosco Ntaganda, who mutiniedagainst the Democratic Republic of Congo in early April 2012, has forciblyrecruited at least 149 boys and young men into his forces since April 19, HumanRights Watch said today. Ntaganda, a former rebel leader turned army general,is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on charges of war crimesfor previous recruitment and use of child soldiers. “Bosco Ntaganda is once againcommitting the very crimes against children for which the InternationalCriminal Court has been demanding his arrest,” said Anneke Van Woudenberg,senior Africa researcher at Human RightsWatch. “Children and civilians in eastern Congo will remain at grave risk solong as Ntaganda is at large.” READ MORE HERE

13-YO Boy Tortured and Abused

A boy taken to a men’s group home for discipline was instead tortured and abused, according to court documents released Wednesday. Lonnie Remmers, 54, of Corona, is the pastor of the Heart of Worship Community Church, which operates the men’s group home. Remmers, along with Nicholas Craig, 22, and Darryll Jeter, 28, were arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, torture, and child abuse, Corona police said.  READ MORE HERE

14-YO Boy Convicted of Raping Child

The 14-year-old, who like his victim cannot be identified, was unanimously convicted of raping the child by the Belfast Crown Court jury on Tuesday. They also convicted him, by a majority verdict, of one count of sexually assaulting the boy. After more than two hours of deliberations, the jury of eight men and four women also acquitted by majority verdicts the teenager of three further charges of rape and three of sexual assault.  READ MORE HERE

Catholic Church challenges priest child rape liability ruling

The Diocese of Portsmouth is challenging a High Court ruling that the Roman Catholic Church can be held liable for the sex crimes of priests. Sisters Sue CA Agency Over Missed Abuse, Misconduct

MARTINEZ, CA — Six sisters who for years were sexually abused by their father with their mother’s help have sued government entities and officials, claiming they failed to properly investigate their ordeal. At the time, police in the family’s hometown of Antioch were investigating rape allegations one of the girls had made against her father, Bruce “Zion” Dutro. Terrifying details of a Florida killing spree, which left three people dead and two with shocking injuries in February, were released to the public for the first time yesterday. William De Jesus, a 41-year-old Floridian with a history of mental illness, shot and killed a 76-year-old man at a Deerfield Beach trailer park on February 9 – sparking a hostage stand-off with police that ended in a frenzied knife attack on his wife and two young sons. At one point he allegedly asked his wife which son she wanted him to kill first. He also told both boys that he had to kill them, otherwise they would be cut up and eaten by police officers. The Moral Debate About Child Porn 

In 2007 James Kent, a professor of public administration at Marist College, was convicted on 134 counts of possessing child pornography on his computer. Just a few days ago, New York State’s highest court, considering Kent’s appeal, ruled that mere possession of computerized pornographic images of children does not constitute a violation of New York law.  While New York State legislators are rushing to repair the breach in the state’s pornography legislation, the arguments used on both sides reveal a confusion – especially on the part of opponents of pornography – that only strengthens the hand of pornographers and may some day serve to render some forms of kiddie porn completely legitimate.  READ MORE HERE

WAUKEGAN, Ill. – A north suburban Waukegan man took a plea deal that kept him out of prison for an incident in which he took a needle and thread to his son’s buttocks.
