If you were to go on Maria Shriver’s blog or her Facebook page you will see she is giving light to Erin’s law through an article I wrote for her to recognize the work I am doing with Erin’s Law.  I just returned from Virginia where I spoke to a large audience. After my speech someone in the audience called a local state senator and asked to see if he could schedule time in the morning to meet me. Sure enough he did. The next morning I was meeting with Senator John Edwards of Virginia to discuss Erin’s law. He was very positive about it all and I think it is looking promising that Virginia might just be the next state to add to this list. Right before I got on my plane Thursday to fly to Virginia I got a response back from a Georgia Senator who is going to introduce Erin’s Law next session.  READ MORE HERE

MANAURE, Colombia — A 10-year-old girl in Colombia has given birth to a healthy, 5-pound baby girl. The girl is a member of the Wayuu people, an indigenous tribe in northern Colombia. The government allows tribe members to carry out certain cultural practices. READ MORE HERE

Washington – The U.S. Marshals Service has announced the addition of Edward Salas to its 15 Most Wanted fugitive list. A convicted child killer, Salas escaped from the Curry County Detention Center in Clovis, New Mexico, on August 28, 2008, and has been on the lam ever since. At the time of his escape, he was serving a life sentence plus 56 years for his role in the murder of 10-year-old Carlos Perez. READ MORE HERE

BROCKTON —Terry Jackson, 54, whose address is listed in court documents as 36 Montello St. Extension, Apt. 1, was indicted by a Plymouth County grand jury last week on 299 charges. They include 271 counts of aggravated rape of a child with force, 12 counts of posing or exhibiting a child in a state of nudity, witness intimidation and other sex offenses. Juneau judge drops 100-count child sex abuse indictment, cites inadmissible evidence

JUNEAU, Alaska — A judge has dismissed child sex abuse charges against a Juneau man, ruling that a grand jury considered inadmissible evidence when it handed down a 100-count indictment. But Juneau Superior Court Judge Philip Pallenberg indivates there may still be enough admissible evidence to support an indictment of 37-year-old David Burger if the document is restructured. ORLANDO, FL — Former champion boxer Hector “Macho” Camacho is facing a felony count of child abuse and turned himself in to Florida authorities this week on a warrant filed late last year. The 49-year-old Camacho posted a $5,000 bond at the Orange County Jail in Orlando on Monday and was released. According to the arrest affidavit, Camacho surrendered on a warrant that records show was filed by the state attorney’s office in November. READ MORE HERE

TUNKHANNOCK – A 42-year-old Taylor man will serve 50 to 100 years in prison for sexually abusing five children, several of whom spoke at the man’s sentencing hearing Tuesday. Vincent Clark’s oldest victim, a 15-year-old girl, began to cry while addressing the Wyoming County President Judge Russell Shurtleff at the hearing Tuesday, suggesting a death sentence would be appropriate. Another victim, a 13-year-old girl, said Mr. Clark should “not have the satisfaction of walking on this earth” for all that she lost the last five years of her life. READ MORE HERE

MODESTO, CA — James Hooker, the former Enochs High School teacher who made national headlines after leaving his wife and family for an 18-year-old student, has been arrested for alleged sex abuse of a minor. The tragic death of a girl diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy was due to severe neglect and malnutrition on the part of her mother and other caregivers. Angela Norman, 42, of Dayton, Ohio, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter on Friday after her daughter, Makayla, died in March 2011 from nutritional and medical neglect. READ MORE HERE

Caught After 5-Year-Old Daughter Finds Her Corpse

Denise Wilder, 37, arrested Wednesday for alledgedly killing her 2-year-old daughter McKinley Wilder could be facing child neglect and murder charges, if the autopsy report, that has yet to be done, shows foul play. According to The Sacramento Bee, family members reported Denise Wilder missing last Wednesday.
