AMBER ALERT: MERCER CO. CHILD ABDUCTED, BELIEVED TO BE IN EXTREME DANGER

WEST VIRGINIA–An Amber Alert has been issued for an abducted child out of Mercer County.  The West Virginia State Police are looking for 8-year-old Porshia Atwell, a white female, 4 feet 2 inches tall and 75 pounds.

The child was last seen in Camp Creek West Virginia and is believed to be in extreme danger.  Authorities are not sure what the child was wearing when she was last seen.  Authorities believe the child was abducted by her father, 39-year-old Tracy Lee Atwell.  He is described as being 6 feet 2 inches tall and 180 pounds with hazel eyes.

Media outlets report Atwell came into his parent’s Camp Creek home, tied them up, admitted to killing his wife and then took off with his daughter. Police say they have located his wife’s body, though more details aren’t available at this time. Tracy and Porshia Atwell may be traveling in a white Jeep Cherokee Laredo with West Virginia license plate number 6C 3202. Tracy Atwell is considered armed and dangerous.

School Employees Fired for Delayed Report of Suspected Child Abuse

ATLANTA — A Cobb County principal and counselor have been fired for failing to report an incident of suspected child sexual abuse to authorities within a 24-hour time frame. The school board on Wednesday fired principal Jerry Dority and counselor Yatta Collins of Tapp Middle School in Powder Springs. School system records say a student told Collins in January she tried to hang herself in her closet. The girl had marks on her neck, but would not explain herself to Collins. READ MORE HERE

Dominick Calhoun Remembrance Walk

“Two years ago today we lost the most precious gift to come into our lives,” said Richard Calhoun. “He has never left our thoughts and our hearts.” His grandson, then 4-year-old Dominick Calhoun, died on April 12, 2010. Doctors would later describe Dominick’s injuries during a trial. His body was bruised from his head to his toes. He suffered cigarette burns and his teeth had been knocked out. His brain was swollen beyond the size of his skull. He didn’t have a chance at survival.  READ MORE HERE

Boy’s biological father reported suspected abuse FIVE MONTHS earlier

A one-year-old was allegedly beaten to death by his mother and her boyfriend after the boy’s father made frantic calls to child protection services months before begging them to protect his son. Jayden Noel died on January 18 after repeated blunt force trauma to the head, according to the county coroner, who ruled his death a homicide. READ MORE HERE

Mother Arrested After Throwing Child Through Car Window

It’s an unthinkable crime. A mother harming her child. Police say Carmen Paul, 29, of Shreveport did just that. Now her ten month old is the hospital. Shreveport Police P.I.O. Bill Goodin says the child is in stable condition at the L.S.U. Health Center. The child suffered a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain, and the mother is in deep trouble. READ MORE HERE

Head-Start Substitute Teacher Allegedly Molested 4-YO Child

PASADENA, CA — Police arrested a former substitute teacher at a Head Start program in Pasadena for allegedly molesting a 4-year-old girl. The girl’s parents, who asked to remain anonymous in order to protect their daughter, said they received a letter last month warning about a criminal investigation involving teacher Miguel Angel Garcia.  READ MORE HERE

Christian School Teacher Pleads Guilty to Masturbating In Class

Paul LaDuke, the former Schaumburg Christian School teacher accused of fondling himself in class, pleaded guilty Tuesday to sexual exploitation of a child and will receive 30 months of probation, his attorney said. LaDuke, 75, was fired from his job in November shortly after a student reported seeing him fondle himself during an algebra class. Authorities said he had confessed to engaging in similar conduct over the past 10 years, though he had never before been the subject of a complaint.  READ MORE HERE

$125,000 Reward Offered in USC Student Slayings

WEST ADAMS, CA — USC officials are expected to announce a $125,000 reward Friday for information leading to the gunman who shot and killed two USC graduate students. Mother and BF Arrested for Molesting Two Daughters

One mother and her boyfriend get arrested for molesting her two daughters. Unnamed mother, 31, and her boyfriend, 29, were arrested in Florida after the woman’s two daughters were found in filthy rooms, a 7-year old girl with a broken ankle that had not been treated, using a cane to walk, and a 4-year old with a learning disability who had been molested by her mom’s boyfriend.  READ MORE HERE

3-MO Infant Girl Viciously Beaten To Death for Not Being A Boy

A man beats his infant daughter to death for not being a son.

Baby Nehan Afreen, only three months old, died on Wednesday morning in Bangalore after her father Umar Farooq, 25, tortured her for not being a boy. Afreen was admitted to the hospital with cigarette burns and a dislocated neck. She had multiple convulsions, ultimately aggravating a cardiac arrest, which ended the child’s life. READ MORE HERE

Disabled Child Tied Down and Shocked 31-Times

Torture or Therapy?  Doctors in Dedham, MA used a form of electro-shock “therapy ,” to help “treat,” disabled Andre McCollins, 18, inside his high school, shocking him over 31 times in the span of a few hours as punishment for laughing at his teachers. McCollins had been residing in the Judge Rotenberg Center for Behavioral Therapy where they treat children with physical and social disabilities.  READ MORE HERE

4-MO baby dies after sustaining injuries

CROSWELL, MI– A four-month-old Croswell area baby has died after sustaining severe injuries last week, said Det. Sgt. Jeff Hook with the Michigan State Police Caro Post. The baby boy died Monday. He had been on life support since he arrived at Detroit Medical Center Children’s Hospital in Detroit April 2. The baby was taken by ambulance April 2 to Port Huron Hospital for severe head trauma before being flown by helicopter to the Detroit hospital.  READ MORE HERE

Gay Male Survivor of Child Abuse and Bullying Speaks Out

Statistics show that over 80% of boys and men do not come forward about abuse out of fear and shame. Patrick Dati was one of those statistics, but after years of depression and attempts with suicide, he has decided to tell his story. Patrick is an active speaker and public advocate for several anti-child abuse and anti-bullying organizations, such as National Association of Adult Survivors of Child Abuse and RAINN-Rape, the Abuse & Incest National Network. He was also recently chosen by the SAMHSA/U.S. Department of Human Services as a spokesperson for their 2012 National Trauma Campaign. He has appeared on “WGN News,” “ABC 7 News”, NBC 5 News”, and numerous radio talk shows. 'Dead' Baby Wakes Up in Casket During Funeral

RESISTENCIA, Argentina — A premature baby was found alive in the morgue, 12 hours after being pronounced dead. The mother, Analia Bouter, was told by doctors in a hospital in the Chaco region that her baby was stillborn. But when she and her husband went to the morgue to view their daughter’s body 12 hours later they noticed the infant was breathing, according to the BBC. READ MORE HERE
