New Vatican guidelines aimed at fighting child abuse by priests tell Catholic bishops they should cooperate with police, but do not order them to report allegations to the authorities. “Sexual abuse of minors is not just a canonical delict but also a crime prosecuted by civil law,” says the letter to bishops around the world, using the Vatican term for a violation of church law.

DAYTON — As if she’d been struck, China Arnold shut her eyes tight and let her head drift backward as she heard the jury foreperson announce that she was guilty of aggravated murder in the killing of her 28-day-old daughter in a microwave oven. Then, as Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Mary Wiseman explained what would happen next for the jury, Arnold put her head down and began to weep — silently at first, but then her soft sobs shortly became audible.

A 63-year-old Oak Harbor man admitted to raping two young children, but blamed his actions on the 4-year-old victim, according to a police report. Prosecutors charged Richard Tice Sr. in Island County Superior Court May 2 with four counts of first-degree rape of a child. He’s accused of repeatedly raping a 4-year-old girl and an 8-year-old girl.

Steven Nicholson’s voice cracked with emotion as he addressed the court minutes before he was sentenced to life in prison without parole Friday for drowning his two toddlers. “I don’t want pity, only understanding of the real truth,” said Nicholson, who maintains that he did not kill his children. “I can never take this accident back, but I will make the best of this.”

At a committal hearing on Tuesday, chef Simon Humble, 49, pleaded not guilty to 20 charges of sex crimes against girls as young as 14. Police and prosecution sources confirmed the co-owner of Italian restaurant Tutto Bene faces one count of rape, 11 counts of sexual penetration of a minor, three counts of making child pornography, one count of possessing child pornography, two counts of committing indecent acts in the presence of a minor and two counts of committing an indecent act on a minor.

CHARLOTTE, NC – A Norwood man accused of several sex assault charges involving a teen is being held in the Stanly County jail on a $2 million bond. According to the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office, the victim is a 15-year-old teen girl. The alleged incidents occurred between January 1, 2006 and April 30, 2011.

TriMet fired a long-time bus driver Friday who is accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl he met while on the job. The transportation agency said the termination of Christopher Alden Parker was due to an employee violation of too many unexcused absences.

A South Salt Lake woman was sentenced to prison for up to life on Friday for using a kitchen implement to fatally beat her 5-year-old daughter last year. Angeles Cadillo-Castro, 32, was charged in 3rd District Court with first-degree felony murder for the July 27 death of the victim, identified in court documents only as “S.G.E.”

San Francisco child protective services is investigating a mother who sparked international outrage this week after telling a national television audience that she had injected her 8-year-old daughter’s face with Botox to make her more competitive in beauty pageants.

Children are being sexualized at a younger age

They grow up so fast these days,” goes the well-worn observation on the child’s passage to teenhood. Only, it has become an understatement. The high street sells padded bras for 10-year-olds; Katy Perry trills about kissing girls and the Playboy bunny logo is emblazoned on children’s pencil cases. Hypersexualisation of children is a huge concern for parents.

Hundreds of children being accused of witchcraft ‘as belief in demonic possession spreads across the UK’

Hundreds of witchcraft abuse cases are going unreported across the country each year, it has been revealed. Officials believe child protection officers are only tipped off in the most extreme cases when a child’s life has been put in danger. Just 38 cases have been reported in the last five years – and it is feared that they represent just the tip of the iceberg.
