The teenage mother of newborn baby boy has been arrested after the child was found dumped in a garbage chute of a US housing complex. Police say the baby’s mother, 18-year-old Laquasia Wright, was arrested on charges of attempted murder and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say they have seized more than 307,000 child pornography images from around the world after shutting down an illegal website allegedly run by a Gold Coast man. Queensland police today announced the closure of Operation Gatekeeper, which targeted the major international website and led to charges against 21 Queenslanders, including a 15-year-old child.

A retired Baltimore priest accused last year of sexually abusing a young female parishioner over 40 years ago will not face charges after a police investigation stalled and the unidentified woman decided to pursue the case, spokesman for the police and the Archdiocese of Baltimore said Thursday.

FOUNTAIN, CO — The deaths of a man and toddler found inside a home following a six-hour standoff in Colorado are being investigated as a murder-suicide and a woman wounded while trying to escape was fighting for her life Tuesday, authorities said. Officers found the bodies Monday night in the home in Fountain, just south of Colorado Springs, after trying unsuccessfully to contact the man. Fountain Police Chief Todd Evans said the house had been doused with gasoline, according to The Gazette.

The officer arrested for child porn has been re-arrested, this time for sexual assault on children and CSPD says they believe there are multiple victims. A news conference was held Friday to release additional information. Police arrested 30-year-old Joshua Carrier on May 11 on charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Child, a class 4 felony. Children who are abused in their earliest years face a long, uphill battle to recover from the mental and emotional wounds inflicted on them. “There’s trauma, and then there’s trauma that happens when you’re really little, which is harder to treat, because you don’t have words to help you,” said Dr. Velma Bacak, a child psychiatrist with Riverside Behavioral Health Center. In addition to the trauma of abuse and malnutrition, neglected children may be deprived of attachment and socialization.

Facebook, the largest photo-sharing site on the Internet, said it has begun to use PhotoDNA to hunt for several thousand registered illegal images among the 200 million images uploaded by its users each day. Facebook will host an online event at 3:00 p.m. (Eastern time) on Friday to explain the initiative, which follows its January move to join the center’s Amber Alert network.

FULLERTON – A 19-year-old Riverside man was convicted Tuesday of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old boy with a toy light saber while other children watched after the child’s mother dropped him off with a baby sitter. Javier Enrique Perez now faces a potential 30-years-to-life term in state prison at his sentencing July 22 by Superior Court Judge James Rogan in the North Justice Center. Perez could also be required to register as a sex offender for life.
