The young mom’s roommate grabbed her cell phone and started filming the abuse — and police are sharing that video with FOX 10. Police say 21-year-old Jessica Callaway told them she hit her baby because she was having a bad day and couldn’t find an outfit to wear that night.

A MAN accused of forcing his three young grandsons to hike 30km in 40C heat at the Grand Canyon and denying them food and water has been charged with child abuse. The boys, aged 12, 9 and 8, told investigators that they had been hit, pushed, choked, pinched and squeezed during trips on a popular trail at the canyon’s South Rim last month. On the latest hike at the weekend, temperatures reached 42C.

PALM BAY, Fla. — A Brevard County man is facing charges after video of him severely beating a 16-year-old surfaced.Investigators said 35-year-old Gary Johnson was refereeing a fight between his son and another boy in a back yard.In the video, Johnson’s son abandons the prearranged fight, the other teen gets in Johnson face and Johnson punches him in the face, knocking him to the ground.

CHATSWORTH, CA– The judge in the Brandon McInerney murder trial has declared a mistrial after jurors said they were hopelessly deadlocked. The vote was 7 to 5 in favor of finding Brandon McInerney guilty of voluntary manslaughter. The jury received the case last Friday once closing arguments in the eight-week trial came to an end.

Jeanette Maples’ Dad Sues DHS

PORTLAND, OR — A Portland attorney says the state is to blame for the death of Jeanette Maples, a Eugene teen who was killed by her mother. David Paul filed a lawsuit on behalf of the estate of Jeanette Maples. Paul says his goal in taking the Department of Human Services (DHS) to trial will be to scrutinize what state workers knew, when they knew it, and what was done to prevent this tragedy.

A former Catholic priest exposed as a serial child sex abuser has claimed he posed no “threat or danger to children”. Bill Carney was accused by the Murphy report, which was published in Ireland two years ago, of abusing at least 32 children. Carney, who was ordained in 1974 and defrocked in 1992, left Ireland and was traced to Spain before settling in Northleach, near Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Evidence showed the 2-year-old, AVEION LEWIS, had lost a quarter of his body weight and had suffered an untreated broken arm in the last month of his life.

Brandon R’eal Lockett Sr. has been found guilty of second-degree murder and child abuse and neglect in Roanoke Circuit Court after pleading no contest to the charges this afternoon. Lockett faces a up to 50 years in prison when he is sentenced in November in the January 2010 death of his stepson, toddler Aveion Lewis — 40 years is the maximum penalty on the murder charge, 10 years for the abuse and neglect.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible near-fatal child-abuse case involving a 5-month-old girl. The girl was rushed to Arnold Palmer Hospital around 11 a.m. Sunday after someone called to report a child had vomited and stopped breathing.
