Double shooting reported at Patriot High school

JURUPA VALLEY, CA– Two people have been shot in a parking lot at Patriot High School in Jurupa Valley, according to sheriff’s deputies. The shooting, reported around 10:40 a.m., prompted a lockdown on the campus located at Camino Real and Mission Boulevard.

FULLERTON, CA — A young woman accused of drowning her newborn boy in a toilet has pleaded guilty to felony child abuse. Under a plea deal, prosecutors agreed to dismiss murder charges against 21-year old Yanira Bernice Valderrama.

WHAT IS A DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY?

Family dysfunction can be any condition that interferes with healthy family functioning. Most families have some periods of time where functioning is impaired by stressful circumstances (death in the family, a parent’s serious illness, etc.). Healthy families tend to return to normal functioning after the crisis passes. In dysfunctional families, however, problems tend to be chronic and children do not consistently get their needs met. Negative patterns of parental behavior tend to be dominant in their children’s lives.

Teen Raped After Meeting Man On Facebook

Jeffrey Sackman, 44, was arrested Friday, Cathedral City police said today.

A Cathedral City man posed as a teen online, then assaulted and drugged the girl he lured to his apartment, investigators said today. The girl, who ran away from Buena Park, told investigators she met the man on a social networking site two years ago. She has communicated with him via several sites, including Facebook, MySpace and mbuzzy.com.

A 21-year-old DeLand man faces a charge of aggravated child abuse after an infant he brought to a DeLand hospital was discovered to have multiple injuries including a skull fracture. Joshua Dale Bartholomew is being held without bail in the Volusia County Branch Jail.

Mother charged with aggravated child abuse after stabbing daughter

Chattanooga Police have charged Donna Alicia Ray with aggravated child abuse after she allegedly stabbed her 15-year-old daughter in the back following an argument Sunday night. According to police, Ray confronted her daughter after arriving home at 1701 Oak St. when she smelled smoke in the house and “assumed that her daughter had been doing something wrong.”

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 16-year-old was arrested Sunday after an infant was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.Javarris Lane is charged with aggravated child abuse.Jacksonville police were called to a home in the 2200 block of West First Street in Northwest Jacksonville just after 10 a.m.Police said they went into the back bedroom and found an adult trying to perform CPR on the unresponsive infant on a bed.

Amnesty International Says Clerical Sex Abuse Was ‘Torture’

A report from Amnesty International has said the abuse of children by priests and church-run institutions in Ireland amounted to torture. The research, which included an opinion poll, was commissioned following the publication of a number of reports which catalogued decades of abuse. It found that some of that abuse met the legal definition of torture.

Police arrested Stanesha Allen, 31, on suspicion of drunken driving Sunday when she allegedly crashed her SUV, injuring herself and the six children inside.

LANCASTER, CA — Four of six children injured in an alleged drunk-driving crash in Lancaster have been released from the hospital, while two remain hospitalized, one in critical condition, authorities said Monday. The driver, Staneha Allen, has been arrested a woman on suspicion of drunken driving after a rollover accident that injured herself and the six children inside her SUV. She remains hospitalized.

Her name is Princess Olufemi-Kayode. She is a columnist, a journalist and communication development expert. She is one of the few Nigerian women who have not allowed stigma keep them mourning after sexual abuse. As a teenager, she was sexually abused. Despite her open admission of being a victim of rape, she is happily married, with children. Olufemi-Kayode’s experience made her realise the impact of the consequences of rape on victims. This led to her raising public awareness and seeking institutional support to meet the needs of abused children.
