Criminals are increasingly uploading child abuse images to hard-to-detect hosting sites and then passing the web links to the material to others, a report warns

Number of web pages hosting child abuse material rose by 89% during 2010

Paedophiles are increasingly using file hosting sites to distribute images and videos in a bid to bypass blocks on child abuse websites, an Internet watchdog has warned. A report today by the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) has revealed that criminals are uploading the harrowing content to hard-to-detect hosting sites and then passing the web links to the material to others.

FL Welfare Workers Fired Over Abuse Case

MIAMI, March 15 — The state of Florida has fired two welfare workers connected to the case of a 10-year-old girl who was found dead in her adoptive father’s pickup truck. The Florida Department of Children & Families said Andrea Fleary has been terminated from her position as a child abuse investigator and her supervisor, Kevin Ramos, has also been fired, The Miami Herald reported.

Couple Abandoned Special Needs Son At Motel

Hialeah, Florida  – Savannah Sholter, 21, and Vincent Collins, 25, were arrested Monday after police allegedly found their emaciated two-year-old son abandoned in a motel room with feces embedded in his skin, a stack of dirty diapers three feet high and a dead cat.

Man Severely Burned Boy For Wetting Bed

Pickens County, SC – Ernesto Sanchez, a 31-year-old South Carolina man was jailed after he allegedly burned a 5-year-old boy with a kerosene heater for wetting the bed. Police say the burn was so bad, it will leave the boy’s hand permanently scarred and deformed. According to police, an investigation was launched when a relative reported seeing the boy’s hand severely burned.

Council Bluffs, Iowa—- A former youth pastor of Victory Fellowship Ministeries was arrested on a warrant by a fugitive task force in Omaha, Nebraska. Brent Girouex, 33, has been charged with 60 felony counts of “sexual exploitation by a counselor or therapist”.

Pastor Convicted Of Molesting 14-YO

SAN CLEMENTE — A former pastor at a church in San Clemente has been convicted of molesting a 14-year-old girl who worked as a volunteer in the church’s office. 44-year-old Ricardo Avalos Maffey was found guilty of five felony counts of lewd acts upon a child and one felony count of contacting a minor with the intent to engage in child molestation.

Father Arrested For Child, Animal Abuse

COTTONWOOD, Ariz. – A Cottonwood man was arrested after his 4-month-old baby boy and the family puppy were found to have suffered bone fractures. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office says 22-year-old Johan Wall was at home when the infant fell out of portable swing in which he hadn’t been strapped in. They allege that after the infant fell at least a foot and struck his head, Wall injured the child by snatching him up by one arm.

Navy Couple Charged In Infant’s Death

SAN DIEGO – A Navy couple pleaded not guilty Friday to felony child abuse in connection with the death of their infant daughter 17 months ago. Petty Officer 3rd Class Steven Curtis Davinger, 28, and his 22-year-old wife, Sara, whose rank wasn’t immediately available, were arrested about 9 a.m. Thursday by San Diego police and military detectives at the 32nd Street Naval Station, said Lt. Kevin Rooney of the San Diego Police Department.

Baby Scalded, Drowned In Tub

Colo. Springs baby scalded, drowns in bathtub; mother arrested

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A 23-year-old Colorado Springs mother faces felony charges for allegedly leaving her two young children in a bathtub where one was scalded and drowned. At about 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to an apartment on S. Chelton Road after getting a 911 call for an unconscious 9-month-old boy. Paramedics could not revive him.

Couple Arrested In Decade-Old Missing Children’s Case

Fifty-eight-year-old Edward Bryant and 54-year-old Linda Bryant, the boys' adoptive parents, are being held in the El Paso County jail on $1 million bail each.

Authorities in El Paso, Colo., have opened an investigation into the decade-old disappearance of two foster children, one of whom appears to have been physically abused while in the care of his parents. “The message is that we want to get this out, and we want to find these boys,” said El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa at a press conference on Thursday night.

Mom Shook Infant To Death

Utah—- A 20-year-old Roosevelt woman is being charged with Child Abuse Homicide after her baby died after being taken off life support. Samantha Lynn Gilley brought her lifeless 2-month-old daughter to Uintah Basin Medical Center on February 28th. Doctors managed to revive the infant, who was cold and blue in the face upon arrival. She was placed on life support and flown to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, where she lingered 5 days until her death.
