Pictures of a starved 6-year-old boy with Down syndrome — a boy found confined in a De Soto attic — looked as if they could have come from a concentration camp. But jurors will not have to look at the photos. The boy’s mother stopped that Friday with a guilty plea.
Currie, NC—- The pianist and “Minister of Music” for smaller churches in the Wilmington and Pender County area was arrested at Pender High School on March 8th, when he attempted to take a 15-year-old student off campus. Inside the suspect’s vehicle officers discovered three (3) bags of sex toys, lubricants and print-outs of sexually explicit e-mails with the boy’s name on them.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — An elementary school student in Washington, D.C. is facing drug charges after police say he brought cocaine to school and shared it with his friends. The incident happened at Thompson Elementary School. Several students swallowed the cocaine during the school day, and five had to be rushed to the hospital.

BROOKLYN, NY — A 17-month old boy is in critical condition after what police believe was a vicious beating at the hands of his foster mother. Police responded to a 911 call early Friday discovered a 17-month-old child who wasn?t breathing. The boy, identified as Kymell Oram, was taken to a hospital.

A Texas church youth pastor was arrested Friday in relation to the 1993 assault of a 15-year-old girl, sheriff’s said. Joe David Nelms, 43, was taken into custody in Lindale, Texas Friday afternoon. According to Orange County Sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino, Nelms arrested the girl for three years at his home, car and in at the Pacific Coast Church in San Clemente.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Rashawn Murphy was sentenced to life in prison Thursday after a jury convicted him of homicide by child abuse in connection with a girl’s death two years ago.Murphy was charged with homicide by child abuse in the January 2009 death of 11-month-old Parris Rogers.

Hundreds of young people are trying to sue local authorities in England and Wales for failing to remove them from abusive homes, lawyers are claiming. Victims are claiming that social workers’ negligence meant they were not protected from abuse. Sarah Erwin-Jones, a solicitor who acts for local authorities, said such cases were expensive and time-consuming.

A Kansas City man judged guilty Wednesday of sex crimes against children kept meticulous records of his assaults and wrote handbooks on how to drug and molest girls. James Phillip Edwards, 61, videotaped his assaults on 13 girls over a four-year period and documented his research on drugging them in a document entitled “How to Molest Young Girls,” which investigators found on his computer.
LONG BEACH — Police in Long Beach have released a sketch of a man accused of trying to kidnap a 14-year-old girl outside a school on Monday morning. The man grabbed the girl around 8 a.m. as she was walking to Butler Middle School near Lemon Avenue and 20th Street, according to police.
