Florida–An 18-year-old Port Richie man has been arrested and charged with 1st-degree aggravated child abuse of a 8-month-old girl. Richard M. Amabile first told doctors and police that the infant accidentally fell off of a table and hit her head. After confronted with inconsistencies in his story, he broke down and admitted to shaking and throwing the baby when she wouldn’t stop crying.

Agency sees 46% increase

When staff members at the Healing Place were reviewing the number of clients they saw from June through December 2010, they found an alarming trend. Not only did the number rise considerably — by 46 percent — but they saw a dramatic increase in the number of children younger than 12 who were victims of sexual abuse. The number of children 12 or younger seeking help at the Healing Place jumped from 72 in 2009 to 115 in 2010.

Man Charged With Felony Abuse

GRANITE QUARRY — A Granite Quarry man is behind bars, charged with felony child abuse for hitting a 5-year-old boy, causing bruising and giving the boy a concussion, according to an arrest warrant with the Granite Quarry-Faith Police Authority.

Former Manager and Father of “5 Browns” Sentenced 10 Years to Life for Child Abuse

The father and former manager of the band 5 Browns, Keith Brown, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in Provo, Utah on Thursday. Back in February, Brown pleaded guilty to sexually abusing his three daughters while they were children. According to the Associated Press, Judge David Mortensen sentenced Brown to 10 years to life on the first count of sodomy with a child, and 15 years to life on each of the two counts of sexual abuse of a child. Before handing down the sentence, Mortensen said, “I do believe, sir, that you are a pedophile, and I do believe that you are a danger to society.”

Woman Gets LIFE For Beating 10-MO To Death

PHOENIX — A Mesa woman has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2004 death of her baby daughter. Prosecutors say 26-year-old Shawnte Shuree Jones will have to serve 35 years of her sentence before she can apply for parole. A Maricopa County Superior Court judge on Friday also sentenced Jones to a consecutive 17-year prison term for child abuse.

Bobby Collins Jr. Accused Of Hurting 2 Children

Bobby Collins Jr., 25, has been charged with two county of serious bodily injury to a child.Houston police said Collins was was watching his girlfriend’s 3-year-old son March 3. The boy was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital and doctors said he had two swollen black eyes, two fractures in his right arm and a hemorrhage in his head that required a blood transfusion. Pedophile Walks-In, Confesses At Police Station

An East Hampton man walked into East Hampton Town Police headquarters and told stunned officers he had sexually abused at least three children, police said Friday. Henry P. Lopez-Gonzalez, 27, who police said is believed to be in the U.S. illegally from Ecuador, was arrested following an investigation and charged with four counts of first-degree criminal sexual act, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse and six counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

H.S. Wrestling Coach Arrested: Child Porn, Soliciting, Extortion

Rhode Island —- A Providence high school wrestling coach was arrested for child pornography, indecent solicitation of sex a minor and extortion. Police say that Joseph Simone, 21, posed as a teen girl online and coerced a 15-year-old boy into masturbating, which he recorded in real time.

Man Fractured 2-YO’s Skull

A 20-year-old Fond du Lac man is accused of fracturing the skull of a 2-year-old child. Thomas J. Abitz Jr. of 782 Security Drive, Apt. C-102, was charged Tuesday with felony bail jumping and child abuse-recklessly causing great harm. Fond du Lac County Circuit Court Judge Gary Sharpe set bail at $1,000.

2 more retired Philadelphia priests placed on leave in abuse probe

PENNSYLVANIA–Two more priests have been placed on administrative leave by the Philadelphia Archdiocese as part of an ongoing investigation into the sexual abuse of children by clergy. Cardinal Justin Rigali, the archbishop of Philadelphia, announced that the two unnamed priests, who are currently retired, have been placed on administrative leave, effective immediately, pending a more thorough independent investigation.

BAD AXE, MI — While court information indicates the Michigan Department of Human Services had been contacted multiple times in reports of suspected child abuse or neglect at the home of the 13-year-old mother who hid her stillborn baby in the attic area of a friend’s home in Port Hope on Saturday, it does not include what action caseworkers took in response to the complaints.

EAST LANSING, Mich. — A 26-year-old East Lansing man has been charged with homicide in the death of his six-month-old son.Ingham County Prosecutor Stuart Dunnings III says Tuesday in a release that Yumar Burks also is charged with first-degree child abuse. Antonio Burks died Friday.

Twin Moms Indicted For Child Abuse

LOUISVILLE, Ky.– A Louisville, Ky., grand jury indicted twin mothers of two stepbrothers for alleged child abuse tied to a case that left one boy dead and the other injured. Jeanette and Janet Allen, 22, were each charged with four felony counts for allegedly placing Christopher Allen, 2, and his half-brother Wyatt, also 2, in a potentially abusive situation amid “hazardous conditions” at home.

Child found in home with meth lab, couple’s second meth arrest in year

ROCK HILL – A Rock Hill couple is behind bars, their 7-month-old baby in protective custody, after deputies found the child in a home with an active meth lab. Deputies say this is the couple’s second arrest for making meth in the past year, the last time they were busted for making meth while she was 6-months pregnant. According to a York County Sheriff’s report, 38-year-old David Manny Henson Jr. and 42-year-old Bobbi Jo Wulf Henson were arrested Tuesday afternoon at 4:23 p.m., charged with making meth and child-abuse related charges.
