Mother Killed Her Children, Self After Being Denied Food Stamps
San Antonio, TX – On Tuesday, we reported a case in which a Laredo, Texas woman shot her two children and then herself after she was denied food stamps at a Texas Health and Human services office. Man Forwards StepDaughter’s Nude Pic to All Her Friends To “Teach Her A Lesson”
SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ — A man is in custody after allegedly texting a naked photo of his girlfriend’s daughter to nearly 40 contacts in the girl’s cellphone. Eugene Foster, 31, was arrested for sexual exploitation of a minor, said Elias Johnson of the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. According to what 3TV’s Mike Watkiss learned, Foster found a photo the girl, who is a student at Poston Butte High School in San Tan Valley, had taken of herself, and decided to teach her a lesson by sending the photo to contacts in her phone.

BLACKBURG, VA — Police have identified the man responsible for shooting and killing a Virginia Tech police officer. Officials say 22-year-old Ross Truett Ashley killed the officer, then killed himself. Ashley was a part-time student at nearby Radford University, according to police. Police also say Ashley stole a car on Wednesday from a real estate office in Radford, which is about 15 miles from Virginia Tech. READ MORE HERE

GASTON COUNTY, NC– Court hearings Wednesday for a couple charged with killing a Gaston County toddler revealed sickening details about the child’s abuse. “She suffered,” a prosecutor told the judge. “Extremely.” Addison Lanham died from an untreated sepsis infection July 21. MI Parents Charged With 2-MO’s Death
Westland — A Westland couple has been charged with the death of their 2-month-old son, Kayden Brandon, according tothe Wayne County Prosecutor’s office. The father, 22-year-old Antonio Pepalonia Brandon, is charged with homicide/felony murder and first degree child abuse and could serve life in prison, if convicted. Nicole Susanne Roberts, the boy’s 18-year-old mother, has the same charges, and each has a $1 million bond.
Study: Abuse Changes Brain
Victims of child abuse may experience changes in their brains similar to those seen in soldiers, according to a new, small study. The findings, published in the December 6 issue of Current Biology, is the first to use functional brain scans to examine the effects of abuse on children’s emotional development. “This research…provides our first clues as to how regions in the child’s brain may adapt to early experiences of abuse,” lead author Eamon McCrory of Britain’s University College London told Reuters.

Macon, Missouri- – Christina Spaid, a 34-year-old Missouri woman has been jailed after she allegedly had sex with her husband’s dog and an underage girl. According to Macon Police, Spaid was arrested last Thursday following a year-long investigation into allegations that she and her husband had sex with a girl aged 15 to 16 years old. Man gets 90 years for molesting 8-year-old
A Houston County judge sentenced a Texas man to 90 years in prison for molesting and sodomizing an 8-year-old girl in Dothan. District Attorney Doug Valeska said the jury convicted Lemar Dennis Bell, 39, of Grapeland, Texas, of felony first-degree sodomy and felony sex abuse of a child under the age of 12. READ MORE HERE

Silence Common in Child Rape
As police investigate allegations of child molestation by coaches at Penn Stateand Syracuse, nagging questions linger about signs that may have been missed — or ignored. Experts say many bystanders who witness inappropriate behavior or even obvious sexual abuse remain silent, too horrified to report what they have seen. “It’s not that it’s so invisible. It’s that it remains a silent crime. People worry if they say anything they could ruin someone’s life,” said Maia Christopher, executive director of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers in Beaverton, Ore. “Now everyone is asking what did you see and who did what (at Penn State). We know that people did see things and did not respond in a way that could help.”
Recent Hollywood Child Sexual Abuse Reports Are Just Tip of Iceburg, Experts Says
NBC / Warner Bros.–If a spate of recent allegations proves true, Hollywood may have a hideous epidemic on its hands. The past two weeks have brought three separate reports of alleged child sexual abuse in the entertainment industry. Martin Weiss, a 47-year-old Hollywood manager who represented child actors, was charged in Los Angeles on Dec. 1 with sexually abusing a former client. His accuser, who was under 12 years old during the time of the alleged abuse, reported to authorities that Weiss told him “what they were doing was common practice in the entertainment industry.” Weiss has pleaded not guilty. Newborn Baby Found In Trash Truck
SAVANNAH, GA — The body of a full-term newborn baby was discovered in the back of trash truck on Tuesday afternoon. Sanitation workers were dumping trash in the back of the truck when they found the body just before lunchtime. Police said the driver called police about 11:30 a.m. after finding the body. He was in the 7200 block of Central Avenue at the time, but police have not confirmed the exact area where the baby may have been picked up.
