CANDLER, N.C.– A 4-year-old Buncombe County boy was legally drunk when he was beaten to death by someone who also broke the child’s ribs and teeth and bit him, according to an autopsy. A man who lived with his mother has been charged in his death. Trenton Michael Scott had a blood alcohol content of 0.12 percent, well above the legal limit for driving of 0.08 percent, according to the autopsy by a forensic pathologist at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Dr. Patrick Lantz told the Asheville Citizen-Times that he believes Trent ingested the alcohol.

The father went looking for the child — who had been playing — and found both her and the suspect undressed.
WASHINGTON — Ben Barnhard finally had reason to be optimistic this summer: The 13-year-old shed more than 100 pounds at a rigorous weight-loss academy, a proud achievement for a boy who had endured classmates’ taunts about his obesity and who had sought solace in the quiet of his bedroom, with his pet black cat and the intricate origami designs he created. But one month before school was to start for the special-needs teen, his mother, psychiatrist Margaret Jensvold, shot him in the head, then killed herself. Officers found their bodies on Aug. 2 in the bedrooms of their home in Kensington, Md., an upper-middle class Washington suburb. They also found a note.

Dreamcatchers for Abused Children is pleased to announce their newest sponsor Nashville singing sensation Curtis Braly, and the release of his newest single “Caylee’s Eyes.”
Since the end of the Casey Anthony Trial many movements have been put into action, hoping to enforce stricter laws and harsher punishments for people who are charge and convicted of child abuse, child neglect and child homicide, a worldwide epidemic, rapidly growing throughout our great nation.
Regardless of the outcome of the Casey Anthony Trial, one thing remains certain; two-year old Caylee Anthony’s life was taken way too soon.
The beautiful face and innocent spirit of Caylee will live in our hearts and memories forever. “Caylee’s Eyes” is Braly’s contribution to her memory and his attempt to help raise awareness and provide funding for a much too common tragedy that innocent children are forced to face everyday. Braly personally asks the public to support and join this movement by downloading “Caylee’s Eyes” from popular websites such as iTunes, Rhapsody & Amazon starting August 13, 2011.
Braly announced Friday on his website that all proceeds from the sale of “Caylee’s Eyes” will be donated directly to Dreamcatchers for Abused Children, Braly’s chosen worldwide non-profit 501(c)3 child abuse and neglect organization committed to breaking the cycle of violence against children. Dreamcatchers for Abused Children’s mission is to educate the public on child abuse signs, symptoms, intervention, prevention, statistics, reporting, and helping to assist victims in locating the proper resources necessary to achieve a full recovery.
Dreamcatchers for Abused Children and Curtis Braly hope to stop to this vicious cycle of abuse that is continuously claiming the lives of innocent children. Please join our fight and purchase “Caylee’s Eyes” in an effort to end child abuse, once and for all.

TYRONE – A Greene County man abducted a 6-year-old Saturday afternoon, police allege. Dennis J. Stehley, 57, snatched the girl from a residence on the 1000 block Jefferson Avenue at about 3:15 p.m. and took the girl to a wooded area off Kettle Road in Tyrone Township, police said in court documents filed by Tyrone Borough Police late Saturday.

GRANITEVILLE, N.Y.—A Staten Island man who brutally beat his then-9 year old son, stripping him naked, burning his hands and then throwing him into a kitchen oven, will serve just four months in jail on weekends for the attack. James Moss was facing seven years in prison, after pleading guilty to second degree assault, but instead was given a lenient sentence after the victim himself, now 11-years-old, asked the judge for mercy.
County supervisors’ withholding of files on child deaths is unlawful and prevents public oversight.
In 2008, 10-year-old Seth Ireland of Fresno was beaten by his mother’s boyfriend and later died of his injuries. Assembly Democrat Henry T. Perea responded with a demand that the state audit his county’s child protective services agency plus three others in California, including the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services. There is little point now in arguing whether Perea was merely playing to his Fresno constituents or genuinely seeking constructive change. One way or the other, the audit is on, and if conducted properly it can give the public and county governments valuable information about the performance of four of the state’s child welfare agencies.
Since their 2-year-old granddaughter, Addison Grace Lanham, died on July 21, Scott and Paula Bridges have wondered what the next day will hold. They went from a life outside the spotlight to being thrust into the middle of a story that has tore at the hearts of countless people and left the community with many unanswered questions. Why did a little girl have to die from an infection that is easily treatable? Why didn’t Addison’s mother take her to a doctor or a hospital? How did the child end up with a broken leg and other wounds on her body before she died? And, the biggest question of all: did the Gaston Department of Social Services drop the ball by not intervening quickly enough after getting at least six calls from family members warning that the girl’s mother had placed her in harm’s way by living in the same place with a registered sex offender?
DENVER – A mother and her girlfriend accused in the death of a baby faced a judge Saturday. Denver Police arrested the women after 10-month old Adam Gonzales was found dead in his home in northwest Denver Friday morning. Amanda Lujan, 24, and her girlfriend, 23-year-old Frances Garcia were advised of the charges against them in a Denver courtroom this morning.

In a major escalation, a Philadelphia judge has ordered former Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua to testify in court in September about what he knows about child sex abuse cases in his archdiocese. Irish American Monsignor William Lynn (60) who was Secretary for the Clergy, is facing trial on child endangerment charges arising out of transferring priests who later abused.
