SAN CLEMENTE — A former pastor at a church in San Clemente has been convicted of molesting a 14-year-old girl who worked as a volunteer in the church’s office. 44-year-old Ricardo Avalos Maffey was found guilty of five felony counts of lewd acts upon a child and one felony count of contacting a minor with the intent to engage in child molestation.

COTTONWOOD, Ariz. – A Cottonwood man was arrested after his 4-month-old baby boy and the family puppy were found to have suffered bone fractures. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office says 22-year-old Johan Wall was at home when the infant fell out of portable swing in which he hadn’t been strapped in. They allege that after the infant fell at least a foot and struck his head, Wall injured the child by snatching him up by one arm.

SAN DIEGO – A Navy couple pleaded not guilty Friday to felony child abuse in connection with the death of their infant daughter 17 months ago. Petty Officer 3rd Class Steven Curtis Davinger, 28, and his 22-year-old wife, Sara, whose rank wasn’t immediately available, were arrested about 9 a.m. Thursday by San Diego police and military detectives at the 32nd Street Naval Station, said Lt. Kevin Rooney of the San Diego Police Department.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A 23-year-old Colorado Springs mother faces felony charges for allegedly leaving her two young children in a bathtub where one was scalded and drowned. At about 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to an apartment on S. Chelton Road after getting a 911 call for an unconscious 9-month-old boy. Paramedics could not revive him.

Utah—- A 20-year-old Roosevelt woman is being charged with Child Abuse Homicide after her baby died after being taken off life support. Samantha Lynn Gilley brought her lifeless 2-month-old daughter to Uintah Basin Medical Center on February 28th. Doctors managed to revive the infant, who was cold and blue in the face upon arrival. She was placed on life support and flown to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, where she lingered 5 days until her death.

Delaware—- A Harrington police sergeant was arrested for possession of child porn after an investigation by the Delaware Child Predator Task Force. Jonathan Kendall, 37, had seventeen years on the department and was voted Officer of the Year in 2002. He is now being held on a $272,000 bond after evidence was seized from his home and personal vehicle.

A Scotland man was charged Wednesday with killing his infant son. Chris A. Miller, 37, was initially charged with felony child abuse and aggravated assault of a child younger than 3 years of age for a Friday incident in Scotland, but when the infant died Wednesday afternoon, Miller was charged with alternate counts of first-degree murder, second-degree murder and manslaughter in the first degree.

DETROIT — Nearly a year after the shooting death of seven-year-old Aiyana Stanley-Jones, Michigan State Police requested a warrant, March 3, for an unidentified officer in the child’s killing. Maricopa, Arizona – Kassandra Toruga, an 18-year-old Arizona woman was jailed Thursday after she allegedly plotted to kill her pregnant friend and cut out the unborn child. According to police, an investigation began back in mid-February when the Maricopa Fire Department was called to put out a fire at the victim’s residence.
