Couple Faces Child Abuse & Neglect Charges

Two Bradley County parents face Aggravated child abuse and neglect charges after police say the couple’s five-month old daughter was severely malnourished. 23-year old Amy Lenea Turner and 20 year old Sean Paul Turner were arrested Sunday by Cleveland Police.

U.S. Man Traveled To Iceland to Molest Child

A 47 year-old American man has been arrested accused of sexually abusing children in several countries — including Iceland. The man was arrested in the USA on Friday for the possession of indecent images of minors and for allegedly having sexually abused four young boys. Some of the man’s offences took place in Iceland, Visir.is reports.

Woman Used BB Gun To Get To Children

NAVARRE — A 44-year-old woman was arrested Saturday after she allegedly slapped her children and used a BB gun in an attempt to get to them in a locked room. According to a Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, Lanette Marion Francis was arrested on three counts of cruelty toward child and misdemeanor simple assault. The report says deputies responded to Francis’ home earlier in the day Saturday, but were called back a few hours later.

4-MO Boy Found Burned In Meth Lab

A South Carolina woman faces charges of child abuse after her 4-month-old son was found in a meth lab raid in Raeford, N.C., according to an article at FayObserver.com. Ashley Milligan, 23, is the seventh person to be arrested in connection with the raid, which took place last week. The baby had second- and third-degree burns on his upper body, possibly from exposure to chemicals, the article said.

7-MO Baby Has Broken Bones–Father Arrested

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake police are investigating a child abuse case involving a 7-month-old boy with broken bones. The boy’s father, Cesar Delgado, 36, was arrested Sunday for investigation of two counts of felony child abuse. Investigators received a call from hospital officials Sunday, said Salt Lake police detective Shawn Josephson. Jail records stated that Delgado “intentionally” broke his son’s right arm and had “intentionally” broken his son’s ribs during an earlier incident. A Salt Lake police report said the the boy had two broken ribs, each in different stages of healing.

Newborn Baby Found In Toilet

GREENVILLE, S.C. — The search for the woman who gave birth to, then abandoned a baby in a toilet of a public restroom toilet at the BI-LO Center entered its third day Monday.The baby boy, who police are calling Baby John Doe, was still clinging to life Sunday night, according to police.Officials at Greenville Memorial Hospital would not release the condition of the baby, and referred questions to the South Carolina Department of Social Services. Police said they did not intend to give any further updates on the child’s condition unless he gets worse.

Teen Arrested For 9-YO Girl’s Death

GUTHRIE, KY- Kentucky State Police say they’ve arrested a teenager in the death of a 9-year-old western Kentucky girl. Police said in a statement on Monday that they have charged a 17-year-old with murder and resisting arrest in the death of Amy R. Dye. The girl was reported missing Friday and was found dead before dawn Saturday in Todd County.

Federal Grand Jury Indicts Man For Child Porn

CA— A martial arts instructor was indicted for possession and distribution of child porn after an investigation by Project Safe Childhood. During the investigation, Justin Daniel Graham, 29, of Lincoln, was found to be in possession of child porn and had been using peer-to-peer software to distribute images showing the sexual exploitation of minors.

DNA Links Pizza Boy To Teen Rapes

Wolcott, CT— A pizza delivery driver for Fratelli’s Pizzeria (his family’s business) has been linked through DNA to the sexual assaults of two teen girls. Gani Demirosky, 21, has been charged with sexual assault, kidnapping and assault. The first victim, 17, was attacked near a campground in Black Rock State Park in June, 2010. The second victim, 16, was assaulted near her high school in Thomaston in November, 2010. Both were tackled from behind.

Trends in Childhood Violence and Abuse Exposure

A new national study conducted by CCRC researchers shows that bullying, sexual assault, and other violence against children declined substantially between 2003 and 2008. The percentage of children reporting physical bullying in the past year declined from 22% to 15%, while the percentage reporting a sexual assault went from 3.3% to 2%. The study did not find declines in physical abuse or neglect by caregivers, but did find a decline in psychological abuse. Robbery was one of the few offenses that increased in frequency.

A new and serious threat to our children has emerged, one many parents know little or nothing about — cyber bullying. Its effects can be devastating. The Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office, in partnership with the County Education Office, brought the schools in this county up to date on the latest in cyber bullying and cyber crimes. The information was shared at a workshop featuring Tracy Webb of the L.A. City Attorney’s Office. Webb explained that child abuse is horrific, but it has a specific time when it ends. That is not the case with cyber bullying. It is unending. Young people are connected via phone and computer all day and all night.

Father Abused 6-Week Old Infant

Sarasota, Florida – An aggravated child abuse charge has been brought against a 22-year-old man after his 6-week-old son suffered a head injury. The sheriff’s office said Joshua Hammer of Bee Ridge Road is also charged with one count of child neglect. Hammer and his wife brought the infant to Sarasota Memorial Hospital saying their son had a fever. Doctors determined the infant had bleeding on his brain.

Women ‘Shocked’ Kids as Form of Punishment

Two women in Gilmer County are behind bars for allegedly shocking kids as a form of punishment. State police said Yarica Jackson and Mary Ann Starcher used a homemade electrical shock device to punish four kids between the ages of 4 and 12 years old. During the investigation, Starcher admitted to police that she shocked the children, and Jackson admitted that she allowed this form of punishment in her home. Police also found their home to be in a deplorable condition.

Mother Of Two Wandering Children Arrested

DENVER – The mother of two children who police say were found wandering around an apartment complex Friday has been arrested. Thornton Police say 33-year-old Calean Nicol Hickey was arrested on charges of misdemeanor child abuse and neglect. Police say she has been processed, given a summons and has been released. Police say they were called to the Montair Apartment Complex in the 8900 block of North Grant Street around 3:45 p.m. Friday after a witness said they had seen two children wandering the complex for almost an hour. Police say the witness brought the children in from the cold and called authorities.
