Indianapolis —UPDATE: Police said they have arrested the mother of two children found dead inside a southwest side apartment Sunday night.

According to IMPD, 28-year-old Edyan Farah on two counts of Neglect of a Dependant Resulting in Death. She’s being held on a $200,000 bond. IMPD officers said they were called to an apartment in the 4600 block of Londonderry Court after receiving a call about an unresponsive child. When they arrived, officers found two children, a three-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl dead.

3 Children Found Shot Dead

HOUSTON – Three children were found shot dead in their beds Sunday at a suburban Houston apartment building, and their father was charged with their murders after surviving an apparent suicide attempt, authorities said.

Muhammed Goher, 47, was charged with three counts of capital murder in the Sunday morning shootings, said Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Jamie Wagner.

Goher was in stable condition Sunday afternoon at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston, where he was being treated for what investigators say was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head, Wagner said. A sheriff’s office statement said he was expected to survive.

Man arrested after luring child into woods and raping him

30-year-old Michael Houle, convicted of downloading child pornography at Holyoke library, arrested by Springfield police and charged with raping child

SPRINGFIELD – A 30-year-old Chicopee man who pleaded guilty to downloading child pornography on a computer at the Holyoke Public Library in June was arrested by police here Friday night and charged with raping a child with force.
Sgt. John M. Delaney said that Michael Houle, of 99 Rochester St., Chicopee, lured the boy into the woods during a house party in that city and sexually assaulted him there.

Retired school coach arrested for child rape

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — A retired teacher and youth baseball coach from Chester County has been charged with child rape involving four children. William Rhoads, 70, of Phoenixville, Pa. was arrested on Sunday at his home.

The investigation began after authorities received a complaint on September 9th. The complaint alleged that Rhoads had sexually assaulted a four-year-old boy. As a result of the investigation, police say three additional victims were identified.

“ROOF-SIT” Fundraiser puts friends in high places

FORT GRATIOT, MI — With a suitcase in hand, Chuck Santoni stepped off the ladder of a fire truck Sunday and onto the roof of the Birchwood Mall.

Santoni, the morning show host at Q Country 107, won’t leave that roof until 6 p.m. Friday — part of a weeklong fundraiser for the St. Clair County Child Abuse and Neglect Council. “It’s not bad,” Santoni said of staying on the roof, where he has a tent and a sleeping bag. “It’s such a great cause, and that kind of overshadows everything else.” Santoni, who is participating in his sixth roof sit, said it is important to help raise money for the council to help protect children.

More priests to face child sex abuse charges

More Catholic priests face being charged with child abuse in the Republic following inquiries by a Garda team set up after the damning Ryan Report.

Up to 20 files are to be sent to the Irish Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) by a special squad of detectives investigating fresh complaints of sexual and physical assaults by clerics.

The files are expected to be completed in the coming days and will then be forwarded to the DPP to determine if criminal charges should be brought against any of the suspects.

Increase in Child Sex Abuse

D’IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) – With the recent arrest of a D’Iberville man on charges of sexually abusing three children between the age of 10 to 15, law enforcement officials remain concerned about the increasing frequency of this type of crime.

D’Iberville Police Department Captain Keith Davis told WLOX News, this is the seventh child abuse case his department has investigated in less than two years. For this small city, that’s seven too many.

“We have seen cases where the person responsible was a victim themselves of child abuse; we have seen cases where the individual claimed to have some type of sickness,” Davis said.

Boy, 5, Hospitalized, Mother’s Boyfriend Arrested

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 5-year-old Marion boy is still hospitalized in critical condition following the arrest of his mother’s boyfriend on charges related to child abuse.

Michael J. Brown, 35, of Marion, was ordered held over the weekend on $500,000 bail.  He faces charges of felonious assault and child endangering, along with probation violations, 10TV News reported.

Police arrested Brown last week at the Crescent Heights Road home he shared with the child’s mother, and her son, Damien Baker, 5.

Man Allegedly Shoots 3-Yr-Old With BB Gun

GRAND CHUTE, Wis. (WTAQ) – A Grand Chute man is arrested for allegedly shooting a 3-year-old boy with a BB gun in the abdomen. Authorities were called to an apartment Sunday on West Fourth Street for an abuse allegation. Investigators searching the home found a BB pistol and drugs.

BULGARIA–200 cases of institutionalized child abuse/death lead to criminal charges

BULGARIA–Charges of criminal negligence are being prepared in Bulgaria over nearly 200 cases of death and abuse in institutions for children with learning disabilities.

Prosecutors have made the move following a six month investigation into years of abuse in more than 25 care homes. It was carried out by the country’s branch of the Helsinki Committee for human rights.

“We saw things that were incomprehensible to me,” said the chief prosecutor. The report uncovered more than 30 cases where children had died from malnutrition, as well as dozens of other instances of violence or mistreatment. In some cases children had been tied up for months.

Jackson County Man Indicted On 18 Counts of Child Abuse

Investigators: Sherman McBryar forced his daughters to wear homemade straight jackets

STEVENSON, AL – A Jackson County man has been indicted on 18 counts of child abuse. Investigators say Sherman McBryar is a suspect in one of the worst cases they’ve ever seen.

McBryar, 30, of Stevenson, is charged with willful abuse of a child under 18. The two girls he is accused of abusing are one and two years old. Part of the charges involve McBryar allegedly forcing the girls to wear homemade straight jackets.

Two Adults Charged with Child Abuse and Assault

The Birmingham Police Department tells CBS42 today that two suspects have been charged in connection with a child abuse investigation that began on Thursday, September, 16 2010. The victim was transported to Children’s Hospital by Birmingham Fire and Rescue after suffering extensive head injuries.  The victim currently remains in the Intensive Care Unit. The victim is a two year boy.

Mom Charged With Neglect After Getting High On Meth And Leaving Her Toddler At Daycare For 22 Hours

OWENSVILLE, Ind. — A woman flagged down a police officer Thursday night informing him that she was worried about her daughter, 30-year-old Natalie Lawson, after her daycare had called letting her know that she had never shown up to pick up her child. The officer went to the Lawson’s residence and after getting no response from knocking, he entered the unlocked door. Inside the messy house, they found Lawson standing in the living room, nervous and unable to sit down. She informed the officer that she had not slept in two days due to all the meth she had smoked.
