HARRISONVILLE, Mo. – A Canadian jury on Tuesday convicted a U.S. man of raping his daughter and murdering one of the four children he fathered with her by not seeking medical treatment for the sick boy before he died.

The 47-year-old man, who is not being named by The Associated Press to protect the identity of his daughter, a sexual abuse victim, sat motionless as the verdicts were read. He was found guilty of all the charges against him, including second-degree murder, second-degree rape, two counts of incest and two counts of abandonment of a corpse.

A registered sex offender released from prison last month was arrested Wednesday on child pornography offenses.

New Castle County police charged Gary L. Devito, 34, of the first block of Castle Run Drive in Bear, with 10 counts of dealing in child pornography.

D’IBERVILLE — Police officials said a man charged with felony child abuse told detectives he used a “baby belt” to punish his 2-year-old child.

The girl was treated at a hospital Tuesday night after an apparent beating, said D’Iberville Police Capt. Keith Davis. Police took William Curtis Jones III, 28, into custody at his apartment on Mallett Road.

PHOENIX – A man and a woman are arrested and face child abuse charges involving their infant.

Latovia Jones, 18, and Zachary Michael Wilson, 21, were both arrested for alleged child abuse involving their 4-month old baby girl.

A pair of 17-year-olds from Lincolnton face charges in what investigators say was a child abuse case involving a 2-month-old girl. The infant had a broken leg, deputies say.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said it has charged Samantha Michelle Goodnight, 17, and Kevin Aeljandro Rodriquez in the case. Each has a listed address of English Oak Road in Lincolnton, the sheriff’s office said.

A 14-month old baby is dead tonight after police say the infant was severely injured from child abuse. No one has been arrested in the case but police do say that they don’t believe the suspect was a stranger to the child.

Deryun Wilson suffered head trauma and significant brain damage and that’s what police say killed the infant.

The child abuse scandal that has engulfed the Vatican intensified on Thursday after two more bishops offered to resign and the leaders of 5m Catholics in England and Wales issued the strongest admission of guilt yet to emerge from the church.

The offer of resignation by Walter Mixa, Bishop of Augsburg in southern Germany, will be particularly unwelcome for Pope Benedict XVI as the two men are close allies. Bishop Mixa is alleged to have beaten children at a Catholic children’s home in the 1970s and 1980s. He has not been accused of sexual abuse.

While most parents don’t believe they could ever harm their child, each year, more than 900,000 cases of suspected child abuse are investigated nationally.

Even more alarming, the number of children in the United States who die from neglect or abuse each year in most states ranges from two to three per 100,000, according to estimates from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service -Administration for Children and Families. This equates to 50 child deaths in Missouri, based on 2007 numbers.

THE FOSTER mother of two girls who were allegedly neglected by their father has told a jury that when they arrived at her house they were filthy, wearing soiled underpants and the youngest child was infested with lice.

The woman gave evidence that the girls, aged four and eight, were not properly toilet trained and ate “like savages”.
