High On Drugs, Woman Gave Birth On Roadside
FORT WALTON BEACH — Nearly five months after a Shalimar woman gave birth on the side of a road, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has charged her with aggravated child abuse and drug possession. Krystel Lynn Marie Corkins, 26, who was in the county jail on other charges, was charged Dec. 2 with the two felonies. Corkins is accused of injecting herself once a day with crack cocaine for two weeks before giving birth to a baby girl July 11. The 4-pound, 6-ounce baby was born with cocaine in her system and withdrawal symptoms, according to an offense report from the Sheriff’s Office.
