Bartlesville, OK — Here’s the final story for Friday and boy does it end the day on a down note. Bartlesville police say that a 10-day-old infant was found dead inside a running washing machine. On Thursday night, a 911 call was made from a home with a lady accusing another of killing her baby. Police were dispatched to the location where they found the infant dead inside a washing machine. Holland said the baby’s aunt stopped by the home to check on the family and found the mother asleep and two smaller children at home but did not see the infant. That’s when she noticed that the washing machine was running out-of-balance and went to investigate.

NEW ORLEANS — A man declared dead 16 years ago was charged Thursday with the recent kidnapping of a 12-year-old Nevada girl whose body was found by hunters in Louisiana. Authorities said 53-year-old Thomas Steven Sanders, legally dead in Mississippi since 1994, apparently had been living in Las Vegas where he met Lexis Roberts and her mother, Suellen Roberts, a few months ago. Lexis Roberts’ remains were found in east-central Louisiana in early October.

Baby found after mom was arrested on burglary charges

WILDOMAR ( KTLA) — A 9-month-old baby boy was found alone in his crib — just a few feet away from an indoor pot farm — while his mother was arrested on burglary charges. 18-year-old Jordan Ann Womack, of Wildomar, was arrested Tuesday, along with housemates Zachary Anderson and Conrad Munoz, both 19, on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

According to Bullying Statistics, thirty-two percent of parents fear for their child’s physical safety when the child is at school. Thirty-nine percent of parents with a child in grade six or higher are more likely to say they fear for their child’s safety. Twenty-two percent of parents whose children are in grade five or lower fear for their child’s safety.  A poll of teens ages 12-17 proved that they think violence increased at their schools. 282,000 students are physically attacked in secondary schools each month.

BULLYING STATISTICS

• Thirty percent (30%) of U.S. students in grades six through ten are involved in moderate or frequent bullying — as bullies, as victims, or as both — according to the results of the first national survey on this subject.
• Bullying is increasingly viewed as an important contributor to youth violence, including homicide and suicide. Case studies of the shooting at Colombine High School and other U.S. schools have suggested that bullying was a factor in many of the incidents.

• 8% of students miss 1 day of class per month for fear of Bullies.
• 43% fear harassment in the bathroom at school.
• 100,000 students carry a gun to school.
• 28% of youths who carry weapons have witnessed violence at home.
• A poll of teens ages 12-17 proved that they think violence increased at their schools.
• 282,000 students are physically attacked in secondary schools each month.
• More youth violence occurs on school grounds as opposed to on the way to school.
• Playground statistics – Every 7 minutes a child is bullied. Adult intervention – 4%. Peer intervention – 11%. No intervention – 85%.

Bullying suspected as reason for Cooperstown girl’s suicide

Early Thursday, a couple hours before the sun rose in Cooperstown, N.D., 16-year-old Cassidy Joy Andel posted a note on her Facebook page: “My time has come, and so I’m gone. To a better place, far beyond. I love you all as you can see. But it’s better now, because I’m free.” She then hung herself in her home, apparently unable to cope with the nasty things being said about her through text messaging and the very social media network used to announce her own suicide. Five men are facing prison sentences after being found guilty of sex offences against girls as young as 12 in South Yorkshire. Zafran Ramzan, 21, was found guilty of raping a 16-year-old girl in her own home. Ramzan – along with Razwan Razaq, 30, Umar Razaq, 24, Adil Hussain 20, and Mohsin Khan, 21 – was also convicted of sexual activity with a child.

A sex offender has been jailed on child rape charges after three children told Cheney police he’d assaulted them. A forensics technician and a Cheney police detective searched a trailer belonging to Bruce L. Austin, 55, at 2225 First St. in Cheney on Tuesday. They seized a computer, cameras and other evidence, including a letter from New York about sex offender registration. Austin is in Spokane County Jail on $250,000 bail, where he was booked Oct. 8 after his alleged victims described the abuse in interviews with child specialists.

A two-year-old girl was raped in her home in Slovo Park, Mthatha, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday. “The child was at home alone during the rape (on Wednesday),” spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela said. “When the mother arrived home the boy was busy raping the child. He managed to flee the scene.”

A 29-year-old Lawrence man Thursday pleaded guilty to having sex with a 6-year-old girl and possessing child pornography in June. Steve A. Williams admitted to the acts Thursday morning in front of Douglas County District Judge Michael Malone. Williams, who had lived with his mother in northern Lawrence, was arrested and charged this summer with five counts, but Douglas County District Attorney Charles Branson said the plea was important because Williams still could spend the rest of his life in prison.

A team of Monash University researchers has released the findings of a study, which indicates child sexual abuse may be a trigger for the onset of psychotic illness later in life.

The study suggested that children, who were sexually abused, appeared to be at higher risk of developing schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. The research was led by Margaret Cutajar and included research by Professor Paul Mullen, Professor James Ogloff, Dr Stuart Thomas, Associate Professor David Wells and Josie Spataro. The findings of the study were reported in the November issue of  Archives of General Psychiatry, one of the JAMA/Archives journals. Previous studies established that abused children were more likely to develop depression, anxiety, substance abuse, borderline personality disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder and suicidal behavior, according to background information in the article.

Reed City, MI – According to police, 19-year-old Stephen Graham-Wright and his girlfriend, 20-year-old Kayla Grillo, have been arrested and accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 6-year old girl. Police say the child was taken from her home in Hersey Township early Sunday morning, and assaulted at another home in Big Rapids. Grillo reportedly swiped the kid that morning and took her to a get-together at Wright’s home. Police say that at some point during the visit, the child was sexually assaulted.
