VENTURA (KTLA) — A 54-year-old surfer has been cited on misdemeanor battery charges after police say he attacked a 14-year-old boy who was riding the same wave during a surfing competition. The teen was taking part in a youth surf competition sponsored by the Western Surfer Association Sunday at Surfers Point near 399 Figueroa Street Ventura. Just before noon, the 14-year-old was catching a wave when 54-year-old Mark Frame of Ventura, who was not involved in the competition, caught the same wave and rode behind him.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A woman who conceived several children through an affair with a man unaware of her pregnancies was charged Monday with homicide after tests on remains found in coolers or encased in concrete showed at least four infants were born alive but killed, authorities said. Michele Kalina, 44, of Reading, kept the remains in her closet until her husband and daughter found them in July, authorities said Monday.

The mounting tension in the case of missing Oregon 8-year-old Kyron Horman has surfaced again in a court filing. In newly released documents, Kyron’s father, Kaine Horman, states that he believes the boy’s stepmother “caused unimaginable harm” to Kyron.

Kaine Horman strongly believes Terri Moulton-Horman “abducted and may have caused unimaginable harm” to Kyron, reads the court filing, obtained by KGW News Channel 8. Moulton-Horman “also attempted to hire a third party to murder him. Such extreme and unexplainable behavior cannot be taken lightly by [Kaine Horman] or the court.”

PATERSON (New Jersey) – A MAN whose apocalyptic visions allegedly led him to rape his five daughters and terrorise his family for years was found guilty on Wednesday of sexually assaulting a daughter who testified that she bore him a child. The jury deliberated for less than three hours over two days before finding the man guilty on all of the eight counts in the first of five separate trials – one for each daughter he is accused of victimising. The man showed no reaction to the verdict, other than keeping his eyes closed for extended periods while several of the counts were read.

TUCSON – The mother of a 2 year-old Tucson child has been arrest for his death. Crystal Lopez, 30, was arrested today and charged with the 1st degree murder and child abuse of her son, Ethan Cunningham, 2. On September 30th officers were called to the 700 Block of W. Calle Adelanto regarding a child that fell off a stool and was not breathing, while in the care of a baby sitter. The child was taken to University Medical Center where he died from his injuries.

Woman guilty of sex attack on baby

The conviction of a woman for sexually assaulting a baby and allowing her boyfriend to take photographs of the abuse has brought an end to “one of the most sickening paedophile rings this country has seen”, prosecutors have said. Tracy Dawber, 44, was the fourth woman to be convicted of abuse and pornography offences relating to “evil” paedophile Colin Blanchard’s internet child abuse ring. Dawber, a community care worker, wept as a jury at Winchester Crown Court took just two hours to find her guilty of the assault, and of allowing Blanchard to take pictures of the abuse on his mobile phone. She let IT consultant Blanchard, 40, take photos at her home in Southport, Merseyside, in August 2008 as she assaulted the baby on her sofa. The pair then took photos of themselves on the same phone taking part in sex acts.

FORT MYERS: A woman was arrested after allegedly forcing children into prostitution, buying drugs and severe child abuse. Deputies say Noemi Ramos was forcing one child into prostitution in order to get drugs and money. Authorities also report Ramos used a child to rip off her male companions for money. For almost two years, all four children were forced to buy drugs for Ramos in fear of being beaten with broomsticks, hangers and even a hammer if they didn’t comply, deputies say.

WAUSAU, Wis — A Wisconsin man has been charged with repeatedly raping a 9-year-old girl and to make matters worse, the girl’s mother knew it was happening. Police got involved after receiving a call from social services and the fact that a registered sex offender who lived in the home, Clyde McCollum, was bragging about being in love with the girl and told others that he was going to marry her. During their investigation it was revealed that Bryan Hearron, the boyfriend of the girl’s mother, had been repeatedly raping the child. “Bryan stated he was providing lessons to [the child] regarding bad things that could happen to her from sex offenders,” the criminal complaint reads.

GRIFFIN, Ga. – Bad enough to lose a child in a horrific car crash, but for the parents of Dayna Kempson-Schacht, this has been compounded by the fact that a video of her dead body has been making the rounds through town. Back in July, the 23-year-old mother of two was travelling on Highway 19-41 when she lost control of her car and collided into some trees, dying instantly. An unknown firefighter from the Spalding County Fire Department who responded to the scene used his cell phone to record video of the wreckage, including Kempson-Schacht’s dead body and severe head trauma. He would share this video with fellow firefighters, who would then share the video with their friends and two-and-a-half months after losing their daughter, the video makes its way to Kempson-Schacht’s parents.

Roseburg, OR – Police say an 11-year-old boy is being held at Douglas County Juvenile Department facing charges of first-degree rape, sodomy, sex abuse and kidnapping in connection with the alleged sexual assault of an 8-year-old girl. According to authorities, the girl’s mother called the Douglas County dispatch center Saturday afternoon to report that she had witnessed the boy having sex with the girl. The children were apparently playing together outside when mom heard screaming and ran out to investigate, catching the boy in the act.

CRESTLINE ( KTLA) — The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department says a woman shot her 9-year-old grandson to death and then turned the gun on herself. A sheriff’s statement says James Snyder found his 50-year-old wife, Denise, and the unidentified boy dead in their rural Crestline home at about 5:30 p.m. Monday. The Snyders have had custody of the boy since his birth.

Deaths From Abuse, Neglect Increase in Children Under L.A. County Supervision

LOS ANGELES — More children have died in each of the last two years from abuse or neglect after being under the eye of Los Angeles County’s Department of Children and Family Services despite assurances by county officials that the problem was getting better, according to confidential county documents reviewed by The Times.

The number of deaths from abuse and neglect rose from 18 in 2008 to 26 in 2009, and 2010 so far is on track to be even worse, with 21 maltreatment fatalities in the first eight months of the year, according to the figures.

PASADENA ( KTLA) — A West Covina father was charged today with felony child endangerment after allegedly leaving his 3-year-old son alone for 25 hours in a car. Joe Louie Kurihara, 23, is scheduled to be arraignment after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Kurihara is charged with the felony child endangerment count, along with four misdemeanor charges. The misdemeanor counts are two of resisting, obstructing or delaying law enforcement, one of battery upon an officer and one of public intoxication.

Infant Deaths Prompt Graco To Recall 2 Million Strollers

CPSC says four infants became trapped inside the strollers and were strangled.

WASHINGTON — Baby gear maker Graco is recalling about 2 million strollers after receiving reports that four infants died in the strollers. The Consumer Product Safety Commission, which announced the recall Wednesday, said the four infants became trapped inside the strollers and were strangled. The deaths occurred between 2003 and 2005. The strollers being recalled are older versions of the Graco Quattro Tour and MetroLite strollers and travel systems, all made before 2007 and distributed by Graco Children’s Products Inc. of Atlanta.
