Police: Suspect admitted dumping body in Christmas killing

A woman accused in the death of a 12-year-old boy who disappeared Christmas Eve and whose charred remains were found in a ditch nearly a week later has admitted she dumped the body, according to authorities. Mona Yvette Nelson, 44, is charged with capital murder in the slaying of Jonathan Paul Foster, who vanished from his northwest Houston home about 2 p.m. Friday. Nelson was arrested Wednesday at her apartment and had been scheduled to appear in a court hearing this morning, but officials said she had a medical issue and was not brought to the courtroom. They didn’t release details of her condition.

3-year-old’s teeth and toenails pulled out with pliers

Madison, In – Is it so hard to be alone today that you need to be involved with someone who will hurt your child? Many children are abused by boyfriends. What makes these men attractive to these mothers? There is nothing attractive about any person who would intentionally hurt or abuse a child.

Last month, a 3 year old boy was taken to the hospital by his grandparents. “I couldn’t even recognize his face was so bruised and he had bumps and lumps,” Karl Andersen Senior, the grandfather, said. Prosecutors say 21-year-old Jessica Carder, the boy’s mother, and Andrew Richards, 27, her boyfriend pulled his teeth and his toenails. How? “There’s evidence to support that pliers were used to extract the teeth and that there is damage to the gum and gum line.” prosecutor Chad Lewis said.

Two people have been arrested in the death of a 3-year-old Gothenburg girl. Gothenburg police chief Randy Olson says 27-year-old Doris Herrin and 24-year-old Adam Jesseph face charges of child abuse resulting in death. Herrin is the mother of Misty Herrin, who died last week. Jesseph is the mother’s boyfriend. Police say Misty was unresponsive when she was taken to a Gothenburg hospital on Tuesday afternoon. She was then flown to a Kearney hospital, where she underwent surgery for a brain injury. She died Wednesday. Court documents indicate the girl was shaken.

Registered Sex offender arrested for sexual battery

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A registered sex offender was arrested Wednesday on 280 counts of sexual battery. Osceola County Sheriff’s detectives arrested Thomas Galbraith, 38, after a victim from a previous arrest came forward with new information. Galbraith was originally arrested in October of 2009 and charged with four counts of Lewd & Lascivious Battery and one count of child abuse after a 13-year-old victim reported sexual abuse from a family member. Galbraith was convicted in December of 2009 on 2 counts of Lewd & Lascivious Battery and was registered as a sex offender serving 10 years of probation.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — An Indiana woman told police investigators she fed her 3-year-old son olive oil and vinegar until he stopped breathing and died, then wrapped his body in a blanket and hid it for more than a year, according to court documents. Fort Wayne police arrested Latisha Ann Lawson on Tuesday, a day after family members reported her and her two children missing. Officers found Lawson and her 10-year-old daughter living in a house that a church had provided for them in recent weeks. Investigators reported finding a child’s remains inside a tote bag. An autopsy was planned to confirm they were the boy’s and to determine a cause of death.

Fla officials arrest pedophilia how-to book author

ST. PETERSBURG, FL– Florida officials filed an obscenity charge Monday against the author of a self-published how-to guide for pedophiles that was yanked from Amazon.com last month after it generated online outrage.
Polk County sheriff’s deputies arrested Philip Ray Greaves II at his home in Pueblo, Colo., and charged him with violating Florida’s obscenity law. Polk Sheriff Grady Judd said his office was able to arrest Greaves on Florida charges because Greaves sold and mailed his book, “The Pedophile’s Guide to Love and Pleasure: a Child-lover’s Code of Conduct,” directly to undercover Polk deputies. Judd says Greaves even signed the book. “He very proudly sold us his personal copy,” Judd told the Associated Press. “I was outraged by the content. It was clearly a manifesto on how to sexually batter children … You just can’t believe how absolutely disgusting it was.”

VERO BEACH, Fla. — Police in Vero Beach said a 23-year-old man was arrested and charged with capital sexual battery in connection with an assault on an 11-week-old infant. Police said Jermaine Williams, of Vero Beach, sexually assaulted the child while it was in his care. The child suffered multiple injuries, including a collapsed lung and fractured ribs.

LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — The LAPD released images of 180 women taken by the alleged ” Grim Sleeper” on Thursday in the hope that family or friends will recognize them and contact authorities. In July, when Los Angeles police arrested Lonnie Franklin Jr., the man accused of being the notorious “Grim Sleeper” serial killer, they searched his South L.A. home for incriminating evidence and found nearly 1,000 still photographs and hours of video showing women, almost all of them partly or completely nude and striking sexually graphic poses.

Detectives have spent months trying to identify the women to determine whether they are alive and to learn how they came to be photographed by a man charged with sexually assaulting and killing 10 women during a crime spree that spanned two decades.  The attempt has proved fruitless prompting the LAPD to release the images of 180 women in the hope that family or friends will identify them and contact investigators.

Vacaville police arrest teen in sexual assault, stabbing of 13-year-old girl, baby

VACAVILLE, CA – Police arrested a 14-year-old boy who allegedly broke into a home, sexually assaulted and stabbed a 13-year-old girl and stabbed her 18-month-old brother while they were home alone early Sunday morning. Vacaville police received a 911 call from a residence on the 1200 block of Balsam Way around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, said police spokesman Sgt. Mark Donaldson. The 13-year-old girl told police she and her younger brother had been stabbed. She fled her house to call for help from a neighbor’s house.

“To have the presence of mind, with the multiple stab wounds that she had, and the presence of mind to take her brother, get out of the house and take her cell phone with her, to call the police – a courageous young lady and she saved both of their lives,” said Vacaville police officer Dennis Crouse.
