Teen Assaulted by 54-Year Old Man During Surf Competition

VENTURA (KTLA) — A 54-year-old surfer has been cited on misdemeanor battery charges after police say he attacked a 14-year-old boy who was riding the same wave during a surfing competition. The teen was taking part in a youth surf competition sponsored by the Western Surfer Association Sunday at Surfers Point near 399 Figueroa Street Ventura. Just before noon, the 14-year-old was catching a wave when 54-year-old Mark Frame of Ventura, who was not involved in the competition, caught the same wave and rode behind him.
