Police Shoot, Kill Child Rape Suspect

TUCSON–A man wanted in connection with a child sexual assault case was shot and killed in a confrontation with Tucson police downtown Wednesday afternoon. The shooting happened outside the man’s apartment in the 400 block of South Stone Avenue near Kennedy Street. Detectives went to the man’s apartment to arrest him on charges of sexual assault of a child and child abuse, said Sgt. Diana Lopez, a Tucson police spokesman. The case, which involves an 8-year-old female victim, had been investigated for several months.
