Deepika Parmar, who threw her month-old daughter to her death at KEM Hospital in October, was granted bail by the sessions court on Monday. Bail was granted against a surety of Rs 15,000 on humanitarian grounds. According to the police, on October 26, they had found Parmar’s child in the gutter outside a toilet at the hospital. They alleged Parmar had thrown her child out of the toilet window.

Parmar was arrested soon after she was discharged from the hospital on November 22 and was remanded in judicial custody at Byculla jail. Parmar was charged under Section 317 (exposure and abandonment of child) and murder under the Indian Penal Code.
