For most of us, home is where we go to escape danger. For abused children, home can be the most dangerous place in the world.

When Discipline Goes Too Far

For most children, home is a safe haven. For abused children, home can be a place of danger.Growing up as a victim of abuse can cause profound psychological, behavioral and physical consequences. Severity depends on the conditions of abuse — age of the child, their developmental status at the time of the abuse, frequency of abuse and type: physical, sexual, emotional or neglect.
