Amanda, the toddler who was beaten so severely, she had to have part of her intestines removed is only 2 years old.
To say the mother was a bad judge of character is a gross understatement…also, the Department of Family Services allegedly visited the trailer where this child lived a week before and found her with a broken leg and allegedly did NOTHING to protect her.
(KTVI – FOX2now.com) – The father of a two year girl brutally beaten is speaking out about what his daughter has endured. As the little girl fights for her life, questions remain about whether the system failed to protect her. Amanda Runyon remains in critical condition at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center. Her father, Eddie Runyon, cant believe what happened.
“I’m her father. It is my job to protect her. I couldn’t and it hurt me bad, said Runyon.
Investigators say the boyfriend of Amanda’s mother, Kraig Monroe, 24, repeatedly punched Amanda in the stomach because she wouldn’t stop crying. The alleged beating was so severe that doctors had to remove part of Amanda’s intestines.
Runyon is a coal miner in Kentucky. He says hes close to Amanda even though he lives out of state. He came to St. Louis as soon as he heard about what happened.
“Two year old’s should be watching Sesame Street and playing with baby dolls and playing house, trying to read books, color and she shouldn’t be in a bed right now hooked to 14 different machines,” explained Runyon.
