MISSOURI–Man convicted of forcible rape, sodomy of child

Robert R. Langford Jr., 28, has been convicted of the forcible rape and sodomy of a child less than age 12.Langford was a friend of the victim’s family.
The jury took three hours to deliberate about the events that occurred between Jan. 29 and 30.
Sentencing will be March 26.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A Greene County jury convicted a man on Thursday for the rape of a 9-year-old girl on the night of Jan. 29, 2009. Robert Langford, 28, faces a prison sentence for the rest of his life without possibility of parole for forcible rape and three counts of forcible sodomy of a child under 12.Langford, a friend of the child’s family, was arrested the day after the assault. Police said it happened while he was babysitting the girl. They said Langford fled when he realized the mother found out about the rape, after she returned home, but an officer spotted and arrested him several hours later.
