Admission by Jozlynn Martinez’s mother that she feared Malmberg would hurt girl affects custody ruling

Consuela Martinez and Jeffrey Malmberg
GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Court documents show Consuela Martinez, the mother of the presumed-dead 2-year-old Jozlynn Martinez, allowed her live-in boyfriend to care for her two children despite concerns the boyfriend may be harming Jozlynn.
Child Protective Services workers used the mother’s own admissions as reason for removing her younger child, 7-month-old Bryan Malmberg, from her Nagold Street NW residence after Jozlynn went missing Feb. 22.
In a hearing today, a family court referee ruled Bryan should stay under the state’s care in foster care at least until another hearing April 16.
