Couple Arrested For Squeezing, Biting Child’s Face

Barboursville, WV – In November, 2008, according to 26-year-old Vanessa Stanley’s poorly written Myspace bio, her two boys, aged 5 and 2 months, were her life. At that point, she had no man in her life and her little men had her complete attention.
Enter 25-year-old Joey Watts. They have both been charged with felony child abuse and neglect against Stanley’s 15-month-old son. Charges were brought following a two-week investigation prompted by the child’s biological father’s complaint of possible abuse. According to police, Stanley squeezed the baby’s cheeks hard enough to leave bruising and Watts bit him on the face hard enough to leave a bite mark.
This abuse apparently happened between Christmas and New Year’s and I wonder if the abuse started since Watts came in to Stanley’s life. There was no mention of whether the older child was being abused but a comment left on the news story alleges that Stanley let a boyfriend abuse her older son, as well. Stanley and Watts are each being held on $75,000 bond. The child is now recovering in the custody of his biological father.
