ROCK HILL: Rock Hill man charged with fatal abuse of infant daughter
A 26-year-old Rock Hill man was charged with homicide by child abuse Saturday, according to York County Sheriff’s Office officials. Curtis Randall Sweatt Jr. of Rock Hill was charged Saturday afternoon in connection with the death of his 4-month old daughter, officials say.
Capt. Jerry Hoffman said EMS took an unresponsive child to Piedmont Medical Center on Thursday night. The 911 call came in about 11 p.m.
She was transported to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, where she died Friday morning.
Sweatt is accused of inflicting injury on the child that caused her death, Hoffman said.
The York County Coroner’s office handled the autopsy, but results are unavailable. Sweatt has been denied bond.

Curtis Randall Sweatt Jr., of Rock Hill was charged in the death of his daughter, Savannah, who died Friday morning.
EMS took the girl, who was unresponsive, to Piedmont Medical Center Thursday night. The 911 call came in around 11 p.m.
She was transported to Levine’s Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, where she died.
Sweatt, who lived with the child, is accused of inflicting injury on the child that caused her death, Hoffman said. Hoffman referred questions about the girl’s injuries to the York County Coroner’s office, which handled the autopsy.
York County Coroner Sabrina Gast said she is waiting on the results of tests performed at the autopsy before determining a cause of death for the child.
These tests, which include toxicology, could take four to six weeks.
She declined to comment on whether there were visible injuries to the child.
Sweatt was denied bond.
