Clearfield police seek sex-abuse suspect–Ask public for help
CLEARFIELD — Police here asked for the public’s help Thursday to locate a man suspected of aggravated sexual abuse of a child.
In November, authorities began investigating allegations that Eldon Lee Seagrist had molested several girls under the age of 10, said Clearfield police detective Kyle Jeffries. Seagrist, 40, occupied a position of special trust with his alleged victims, Jeffries said.
“We do think we have all the victims,” Jeffries said. “But with a sex abuse case, you never really know.”
Officers contacted Seagrist by phone about two weeks ago to arrange an interview, Jeffries said, after they had finished talking with witnesses and the alleged victims.
Seagrist denied the accusations during the phone call, the detective said, and then began telling friends that police planned to arrest him so he was going into hiding. The man’s friends have told authorities that Seagrist claimed to have a blond wig that he was using to disguise himself, Jeffries said.
Anyone with information about Seagrist’s location is asked to call the Clearfield Police Department at 801-525-2806.
