CA–Elk Grove school bus driver accused of child molestation
ELK GROVE, CA – A substitute bus driver for Elk Grove Unified School District is under arrest on suspicion of molesting a child.
Amador County Undersheriff Jim Wegner said deputies arrested Mark Tindall in Sacramento on Wednesday. Records show Tindall was booked into jail on three counts of lewd or lascivious acts on a child under the age of 14.
School district spokeswoman Liz Graswich confirmed Tindall’s arrest. “He’d only been working for us as a substitute driver for six days,” she said. “Like all employees, he was fingerprinted and passed a Department of Justice background check before he started working here.”
For the last five months, Mark Wilson has lived next door to Tindall in the La Riviera Apartments near Watt Avenue in Sacramento. He was home when deputies took Tindall into custody. “I was definitely shocked. He actually seemed like a really nice guy,” Wilson said.
Tindall invited Wilson and his girlfriend over a few times for dinner. “But we never went,” Wilson said. “Actually, my mom told me that she sensed something. She warned me not to go.”
Wegner declined to reveal much more about the case. “I don’t want to jeopardize the case in any way and I want to give our detectives an opportunity to do their jobs,” Wegner said. He also pointed out Tindall’s arrest had nothing to do with his employment in Elk Grove.
Tindall is currently in Amador County Jail awaiting a court arraignment.
