UK–Brother of Gerry Adams still at large after child abuse claims
Sinn Féin leader tells Liam Adams to hand himself in to police
A brother of Gerry Adams remains at large this weekend despite a warrant for his arrest over allegations that he sexually abused his daughter.
Liam Adams is believed to be hiding in the Irish Republic after he failed to turn up for a court hearing in November. He was to face allegations that he had abused his daughter Aine.
Gerry Adams has appealed to his brother to return to Northern Ireland and hand himself over to the police.
Aine Tyrell claimed on Ulster Television’s Insight programme on Friday night that she first went to the police with her allegations in 1987.
The allegations include rape, indecent assault and gross indecency. His daughter said that she was subjected to abuse from when she was aged four in 1977 and that her ordeal lasted for eight years.
