Omaha, NE (The Weekly Vice) – Kyra Gates, a 25-year-old Nebraska woman was jailed after she allegedly punched her 10-month-old baby in the face before attacking officers who responded to a call for help.

According to Omaha police, officers arrived to find Gates holding her baby – who’s nose had been bloodied after Gates allegedly beat the baby in the face.

Investigators say the officer asked Gates to hand the child over to them, but instead she responded by attacking the officers while the child was in her arms. She inevitably succeeded in punching and scratching one of the officers.

Gates was booked into jail on a misdemeanor count of child abuse/neglect, 3rd-degree assault on an officer, 3rd-degree assault, criminal mischief, obstructing a peace officer and resisting arrest.
