Her phone call to authorities in Romulus, Mich., resulted in a three- to five-year sentence for Christopher Scott Norman, 42, on Dec. 10. But Kari Norman told The Detroit News that if she could do it over, she wouldn’t make the call.

Kari Norman had been married for just three months when she found child pornography on her husband’s computer.

“That’s the day my life fell apart,” said Norman, 40, claiming she ended up losing her financial security and living in homeless shelters with her 12-year-old son after the arrest. “I did everything they asked of me. … I helped them destroy my life.”

Kym Worthy, the local prosecutor, told the newspaper she can’t do anything to help Norman.

“There should be aftercare services for victims and some witnesses,” Worthy said. “While this doesn’t fit squarely into traditional witness protection, it shows the growing need for assistance after a trial is over in certain cases.”

Norman is a registered nurse, so she has career prospects, The News said. But she told the paper she wished she had divorced her husband of three months before turning him in. “I just didn’t realize doing the right thing was going to be so wrong for me,” she said.
