Police arrest daycare provider in yet another child abuse case
Kendra Rendon, 27, has been arrested in connection with the injury of a 4-month-old child that was found to have a skull fracture last week on Altus Air Force Base.
According to reports, Rendon called 9-1-1 after the child became unresponsive. EMS responded to a home in Altus AFB housing Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 28, and took the baby to Jackson County Memorial Hospital with a skull fracture. The baby was later transported to the Presbyterian hospital in Oklahoma City where it is said to be recovering.
Mike Turner of the Altus Police Department said the case has been investigated as a child abuse case.
Rendon, who was operating a day care out of her home, was arrested Monday as a child abuse suspect. She was expected to make her initial court appearance sometime today.
Turner said that Rendon was also keeping other children in her home, but there were no immediate signs that any of the other children has been abused.
He said the parents of the child had no knowledge of the abuse.
