Wiesrsma’s 27 year old alleged victim says from age four to age 15, Wiersma abused him sexually, including oral and anal sex.

The victim’s in jail, doing time for his own sex crimes. He was convicted of child pornography this summer.

While he was in jail he wrote a letter to the judge, telling authorities about his own past, including a history of abuse inside Wiersma’s house.

“He would proceed to touch me, once we got to his house, he would also take pictures and video-tape,” the victim said in court.

Wiersma was free on bond, but prosecutors are worried Wiersma is a threat to the community.

His home is known in the neighborhood as a place kids hang out to get their bike fixed. They are also concerned about his status as a volunteer in the community.

“Located in the residence during the search warrant were a number of things that concerned us regarding Mr. Wiersma’s contact with the community including a certificate of appreciation from the DeVos Children’s Hospital for a thousand hours of volunteer service,” said Det. Dan Adams. “I contacted the hospital and he would handle babies in the NICU.”

Spectrum Health would not comment Monday night about Wiersma’s status in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Prosecutors also told the judge they found a full size adult crib in Wiersma’s home, as well as full size adult diapers and adult sized baby clothes.

After the hearing, a detective said he wanted to get the word out to the public. They believe there may be other victims and they want people to contact them.

The victim’s mother partially blames Wiersma for the problems with her son.

“I think a lot of it was his doings,” she said. “Of course it was my son who went and followed through on it so he’s got to face his consequences for what he did wrong.”

The victim’s jail sentence ends next month. Then he’ll head to a rehab facility.
