Ok–Woman Pleads Guilty To Raping 14-Year-Old Boy
A former Fort Gibson woman entered a blind plea Tuesday to rape of a 14-year old boy.
Melissa Jo Wilson (pictured left) was 33 when the rapes took place between June and August 2008.
A blind plea means prosecutors did not offer a plea and Wilson chooses to leave her fate up to a judge rather than face a jury trial.
Tuesday, Wilson admitted to:
• Second-degree rape, punishable by imprisonment for up to 15 years.
• Lewd or indecent proposals or acts to a minor, punishable by imprisonment for up to 20 years.
She took the boy to a secluded area for the purpose of performing sexual acts with him in her car, while parked at a cemetery.
• Obstructing an officer, punishable by imprisonment for up to one year and/or up to $500, or both.
On Aug 21, 2008, she obstructed a Fort Gibson Police Department officer by picking the 14-year-old up and hiding him out in her tree house at her home to keep him from his parents and police.
She was bound over for jury trial in September in a similar Cherokee County case involving the same minor. She is charged with two counts of second-degree rape and one count of sodomy. She is scheduled to face a jury trial Dec. 10. She is free on $20,000 bond.
“She was very naive and is so remorseful,” said her attorney, Chad Richardson.
Wilson now lives and works in a nearby state, he said.
